Sports and leisure vocabulary in Swedish is heavily weighted toward en-words. Most sports activities take en: en match (a match), en tävling (a competition), en turnering (a tournament), en träning (training). When talking about sports events and activities, en is the overwhelming default.

Sport names are often en: en fotboll (football/soccer), en hockey, en tennis, en golf, en simning (swimming). The word for sport itself is en: en sport. When a sport is used as an activity or subject, it takes en.

Venues are a bit more mixed. An arena is en: en arena. A plan (field/pitch) is en: en plan. But ett stadion (a stadium) is ett - a notable exception to memorize. Similarly, ett gym is ett.

Hobby and leisure words lean en: en hobby, en festival, en konsert (a concert), en dans (dance). One reason is that many of these are loanwords from French or English, and Swedish tends to assign en gender to new loanwords by default.
